Vacancies
The QPV Group is actively encouraging applications for PhD study at the School of Photovoltaics & Renewable Energy Engineering at UNSW Sydney. General enquiries to Professor Ekins-Daukes (nekins@unsw.edu.au), Dr Udo Römer (u.romer@unsw.edu.au), and Dr Michael Nielsen (michael.nielsen@unsw.edu.au) are welcome. Postdoctoral fellowship opportunities may also be available.
PhD Opportunities
Project specific PhD opportunities are available in:
Space photovoltaics including radiation hardening, light trapping, and satellite testing
Developing photodetectors that utilise hot carriers for energy resolving photodetection (ARC Funded Project)
Next generation concentrator photovoltaic solar cell architectures (ARC Funded Project)
Ultrafast spectroscopy studying novel materials and device architectures for solar energy applications
Emissive energy harvesting for night sky power generation and waste heat recovery, with an emphasis on the thermoradiative diode
Funding opportunities for prospective PhD students include via the Australian government which offers PhD Scholarships at UNSW via its Research Training Program (RTP). There are four application rounds per year and both domestic and international students can apply. In addition, Australia Awards Scholarships are long term development awards administered by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
